Yellow eyebright, Euphrasia scabra
An annual semi-parasitic herb.
Height: 12-40cm
Leaves: The leaves are sessile, 8-15mm long, shiny, with 1-3 pairs of spreading teeth or lobes.
Flowers: The flowers are hooded, 4-5mm long, creamy yellow and with 3-lobed lower lips.
Flowering: Spring/summer/autumn.
Fruit: Capsules containing numerous small seeds.
Habitat/Distribution: Open ground, maintained by grazing, or disturbance, occasionally frequent near the coasts and on dry hillsides or grassland. Widely scattered populations varying in number from year to year in the north-east and south. Also WA, SA,Vic, NSW
Cultivation: Not widely grown. A parasitic plant whose cultural requirements are not yet understood.
Distinguishing features: Flower colour.
